We are all damaging the environment everyday. However if you are really worried about the global warming, then here's what you can do for the environment: Never forget to turn off your lights, radio, TV etc. when you not in the room. You need to consider energy requirements when you are buying huge appliances like refrigerator, wash machine or hot water heater. Try to buy things in bulk. This way there will be less packaging to throw away later. Buy a small container and keep on filling it with a huge sized product. Do this especially if you love things in smaller sizes and think that smaller things work better at your place. You can try this with hand soap and detergents. It cuts down on trash and also saves you money!
Consider your gas consumption. Look for gas mileage when you buying a new car. Go for the one which has better mileage. You don't need to stop at your home for this. You can use energy saving tips at the work place. Don't forget to cut off your office lights when you are not there. Turn off the light before you leave. Turn off the computer when you are done with your work. This will save energy and in addition to that it will minimize your computer hacking risk. You also don't need to stop at you job. You can get associated with organizations that aim corporate pollution. According to a report in Pollution Engineering in Jan 2005 EPA's main focus will be to reduce corporate pollution by at least 1 billion pounds. For this they have already increased their investigations by 32% and their inspections are up by 11%. However the cleaning up requires a whooping 4.8 billion dollars from corporations. Many more corporations can eliminate with strict regulations. Support the EPA if you feel strongly about this. Your lawmakers should know that you believe in it strongly! Some people may say that this will make things more expensive for you. However don't give into this. The companies may increase the price of their products to make up for the money that went on making cleaner products. However to say that things become expensive due to this is not a valid argument. Is it okay to make a cheaper product which is not good for the environment? Think about it! Never give into such arguments. Usually the American companies take their facilities off-shore. They save money by paying foreigners only a fraction of what they would pay to Americans. However in addition to this, they do this so that they don't have to invest much in making their facilities pollution production within the American regulated standards. The standards for corporate pollution are lower in China, India and Mexico. Think about this. It's like we all live in a fishbowl. What happens in one part will certainly reach the other part. If you don't like this idea then you need to put pressure on your lawmakers so that it becomes less tempting for American companies to slip over to other countries to chuck their pollution!
